Chiquita expects 'substantial' impact due to new EU banana regulations

Chiquita has said that it expects to incur incremental tariff costs in 2006 of US$110 million as a result of the new EU regulations for banana imports. Despite saving around $40 million on the cost of banana licences the company has said that the new regulations will have a substantial negative impact.
