Vegetables in Russian market in fourth week of February 2008

The onions eventually went up in the end of the week – to 0,43 US$/kg due to few arrivals in week 8 of this year. Potato was demanded by regions mainly as Moscow and Saint-Petersburg were full of local and Belorussian vegetables. Tomatoes had a good week with short supply – 2,58 US$/kg for Moroccan ones in Saint-Petersburg, 2,12 US$/kg for Turkish ones in the south of the country. The situation with capsicums improved, prices went up to 2,78 US$/kg for red ones. Other colors were very short on the market – 3,67 US$/kg for yellow ones, 3,92 US$/kg for orange. White cabbage was sold on 0,59 US$/kg with good demand. Carrot’s situation was rather negative -due to presence of local production on 0,41 US$/kg level the Dutch ones were sold from 0,61 US$/kg and Israeli on 0,725 US$/kg which was relatively low.
