China has captured 13% of Chilean fruit exports
FJ
In 2014 the Chinese market absorbed 13 % of Chilean fruit exports which reached 5.77 billion USD in total.
Since their free trade agreements in 2006 , bilateral trade has increased significantly. China increased its purchases of fresh produce, especially fruit.
China is in the northern hemisphere , Chile in the southern hemisphere. Also the production of one does not interfere with the production of the other: in China the cherry season ends in September or October , the date when the season is just beginning in Chile.
Another factor of expansion, Chile products are increasingly sold to Chinese consumers on e-commerce platform where Chilean companies are increasing their presence.
