Ahold accelerates its development across the Atlantic

Ahold, the Dutch distribution giant, plans to make Euro 21,7 billion in food services in the United States and aims at reaching Euro 34 billion within 2004. In all, Ahold sales reached Euro 66,6 million in 2001, including 60% in the USA where it is set up since 1977 on the East Coast in supermarkets. Further to the buyout of US Foodservice and PYA-Monarch in 2000, then the Alliant group and Bruno' s chain in 2001, the number three worldwide has said it is not interested in the repurchase of bankrupt Kmart, but possibly, by some of its stores.
