U.S. mango market thrives on diverse supply from Latin America

Currently, the U.S. market is mainly supplied with Tommy Atkins (72%) and Ataulfo/Honey (22%) varieties.
For the week ending April 12, 2025, approximately 4.2 million boxes of mangoes were shipped to the U.S., according to the National Mango Board. Mexico dominated with around 3.2 million boxes, bringing its season total to over 20.2 million boxes.
Guatemala followed with 716,734 boxes, totaling 1.8 million so far this season. Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic contributed 120,000 and 186,087 boxes, respectively, with season totals reaching 448,675 and 347,385 boxes.
Mango seasons vary by origin: Mexico’s runs from mid-January through late September and is expected to reach 98.1 million boxes. Guatemala and Nicaragua began in late February and will wrap up in May, while the Dominican Republic will continue through August.
