Highly satisfactory figures for exports of Chilean nuts.
According to reports of the iQonsulting analysis cabinet, nut exports have increased significantly. At the end of April, shipments of walnuts in shell amounted to 1,147 tons and 1,101 tons of shelled nuts, representing increases of +107% and +41% compared to last year.
Today, Chile is the No. 1 exporter of nuts of the southern hemisphere and is among the top five world suppliers. The country has 20 000 hectares of nuts and expects to reach in 2014 a production of 60 000 tonnes.
Chilenut, the Association of Producers and Exporters of nuts, asked the Chilean government to redouble efforts to obtain entry into the Chinese and Indian markets. The association, with the support of PROCHILE, carries on business visits (China, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Morocco, Egypt, Switzerland, Norway, Mexico, Venezuela) and made ??the promotion (Brazil, Turkey, Dubai, Korea South) to increase the presence of Chilean walnuts in these markets.
