New alliance between 4 European groups

Colruyt (Belgium), Conade (Italy), Coop (Switzerland) and Rewe (Germany) created a new strategic alliance: CORE.

This new alliance replaces the Coopernic centre, dissolved last September, after separation with the Leclerc (France) distributor. The remaining partners continue their collaboration with CORE.

CORE will operate under the status of a Belgian cooperative company with its headquarters in Brussels. 4 members appointed Alain Caparros as president of the alliance and Gianluigi Ferrari as general manager.

The 4 groups of independent distribution (Colruyt, Conad, Coop, Rewe) achieved in 2013 a turnover of € 88 billion, representing a market share of about 6.7% in Europe. This alliance will cover 18 European countries and will count approximately 20,000 outlets.
