Pear production estimated at 2.4 million tons in Europe

Pear harvest in the European Union should be higher than last year and should reach 2.4 million tons.

 
During the national convention Technopera, the Catalan Association Afrucat announced a European pear production estimated at 2.4 million tons. These are provisional figures, already advanced by the World Association of pears and apples (WAPA), which plans an increase compared to the 2.1 million tons harvested in 2010.

 
The 9th Congress Tecnopera which was held in Alpicat, not far from Lleida  is the essential reference in pears production and which represents 52% of the Spain pear.
