Brazil’s 2025 apple harvest reaches 850,000 tons with record sweetness

Favourable climate conditions helped Brazilian apples develop higher sugar levels and richer flavour this season.
Brazil’s 2025 apple harvest is being celebrated not for quantity, but for its exceptional quality. Thanks to drier and more stable weather during key growing stages, apples this season are sweeter and more flavourful than usual, despite slightly smaller sizes and lower overall volumes.
According to the Brazilian Apple Producers Association (ABPM), the country will harvest 850,000 tons of apples this year — a modest 2.16% increase over 2024. While still far from the record 1.35 million tons in 2017, growers describe 2025 as one of the best years in terms of taste.
Favourable weather during flowering helped pollination, and reduced rainfall later meant less fungal pressure and higher sugar levels (brix) in the fruit. This resulted in firmer apples with more concentrated flavour.
