Income from exotic fruit exports increased 46.2% in 2021

In 2021, Peruvian exotic fruit exports totaled about $13.4 million, according to the Center for Research on Global Economy and Business of the Association of Exporters (CIEN-ADEX). These figures reflect an increase of 46.2% compared to 2020.
The fruits that generated the most income were passion fruit, $6,495,200 (fresh, frozen and pulp) aguaymanto, $3,683,700 (dehydrated, canned and frozen), lucuma, $1,503,900 (pulp and frozen) and custard apple, $688,300 (fresh and pulp), according to the report 'Exotic Fruits: evolution of the national and world market'.
Other exotic fruits exported were camu camu, lulo (naranjilla), cocona, granadilla, aguaje, carambola and pitahaya.
Destinations
South America was the main recipient, with a 31.8% share, and a total of $4,300,000, followed by North America (24%), Europe (21.6%), Central America (10.1%), Oceania (6.8%), Asia (5.5%) and Africa (0.01%).
Chile was consolidated as the leading country ($3,800,000), followed by the United States ($2,400,000) and Puerto Rico ($1 million).
Producing regions
The main producing regions were Lima (70.5% of the total), Lambayeque (9.9%), Áncash (9.5%) and Junín (4.3%), among others. Ucayali and Callao registered the highest increase with 204% and 285.6% respectively compared to 2020.
These supplies in 2021 were made by sea (93.2% of the total), by air (5.3%) and by road (1.5%).
