The Netherlands and Russia are the main destinations for Peruvian pomegranates

The main destinations were the Netherlands, with a share of 53% of total exports, Russia with 17% and Canada with 7% (Photo: gestion.pe).
Peruvian pomegranate exports increased in volume (+3%) and especially in value (+25%) in 2021. The main destinations were the Netherlands and Russia, which together accounted for 70% of total exports.
Between January and November 2021, Peruvian exports of pomegranates totalled 39,130 tonnes for a turnover of USD 82 million. This represents an increase of 3% in volume and 25% in value compared to the same period of the previous year.
Over this period, the main destinations were the Netherlands (20,762 tonnes and USD 43 million, i.e. +25% in volume and +47% in value) and Russia (6,566 tonnes and USD 12 million, i.e. +1% in volume and +24% in value).
This remarkable increase in value is explained by a higher price per kilo, reaching USD 2.11 per kilo.
