Peru’s cherimoya exports on the rise amid increased demand

Chile remains the main destination for the fruit.
Peru’s cherimoya sector posted one of its strongest performances on record between January and August 2025, exporting 734.4 tonnes — a surge of 208% compared to the same period last year. The jump signals the fruit’s growing recognition and consolidation in international markets.
Market analyst Heber Chávez reported that Chile dominated demand, absorbing 88.5% of shipments. Spain followed with 8.7%, while other destinations accounted for the remaining 2.8%.
“This remarkable growth shows the rising acceptance of Peruvian cherimoya in demanding markets, particularly in South America and Europe,” Chávez noted.
