Southern Hemisphere season wraps up with mixed market movements

Retailers are clearing remaining stock.
Retailers are now entering the final stretch of the 2025 Southern Hemisphere season, with most sellers focused on maintaining and clearing remaining stock.
Apples
The Southern Hemisphere apple season is essentially over in China. Retailers are selling their final stocks, and New Zealand apples continue to dominate the shelves, even in standard varieties like Royal Gala.
Blueberries
Wholesale prices in Japan increased last week. Depending on the variety, prices rose by ¥5–15 (≈ US $0.032–0.096) per 1.5 kg box. Magica has been the main variety on the Japanese market, accounting for around 60% of volumes over the past three weeks, with Ventura and Sekoya Pop also present.
Cherries
In week 46, China’s cherry market remained stable with a slight uptick. Larger shipments are expected soon, which should help balance prices as more fruit arrives.
Oranges
Wholesale stocks in China remain available even though new arrivals have paused. Since week 44, Australian oranges have dominated displays in top-tier cities, followed by South African fruit. The average retail price is ¥29.54 (≈ US $4.15) per kg, ranging from ¥18 (≈ US $2.53) at the low end to over ¥40 (≈ US $5.63) at the high end.
