DEL MONTE will invest $ 250 million for new plantations

DEL MONTE Arabia has an agreement with the governor of Palawan ( small island southwest of the Philippines ) for a project valued at USD 250 million .

The island , being on the same latitude as the Davao region , will be an ideal agricultural area to produce pineapples and bananas.

The future plantings will cover a total of 6000 hectares. The production , pineapple and banana will be exported to Asian markets and the Middle East .
