Acreage and production down

The French courgettes production is estimated to be falling for this 2015 season.

Agreste ( Ministry of Agriculture ) in its recent report announced a total area of ??2,600 hectares ( - 5%) and anticipates production of 121 thousand tonnes ( -4 %) for 2015 .

The decline in areas is largely due to a reduction of greenhouse crops. In early season production was therefore lower but outdoor crops will provide the majority of deliveries. The peak of production, similar to the level of 2014, should be reached in July.
