Fresh Del Monte announces strong results

Fresh Del Monte produce Inc., one of the world's largest producers and marketers of fresh fruit and vegetables, reported financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 28, 2001. The group reported net income of USD 5,3 million in Q4 of 2001, compared with a net loss of USD 8,5 million at the same time the year before. Net sales for Q4 were USD 422,0 million, compared with USD 411,2 million for the same period in 2000. According to Fresh Del Monte CEO : "This year' s performance testifies to the progress we have made in expanding our core business, while reducing our debt level".
