World avocado market in January 2009

The market has remained short supplied.

 

Hass deliveries have slightly recover with punctually larger volumes from Chile. However, the global offer has remained below the average, as the volumes delivered by all the other suppliers have continued to be shorter than usual.

 

Thus, traders have increased their prices up to sometimes the 10 euros/box level. Demand has been in line, even if a slow down has been reported by some traders at the end of last week. Supply has also remained short for green fruits.

 

Both Israeli and Spanish supply have remained below the average. Only the grade 18 sales have been somewhat slow. Prices have continued to increase for all size.
