Temporary decline in avocado exports which could total 145.000 tons.

In September 2020, Chilean avocados gained market access to South Korea. The first shipment to this destination was realized in November.

According to a recent GAIN Report from USDA the avocado production in Chile will total 220.000 tons with planted area of 30.143 hectares, and exports are expected to reach 145.000 T

 

 

From January to September 2020, Chilean avocado exports have decreased by 46.1 percent in volume with 39.585 T instead of 73.474 T in 2019.

For now, the main destinations for Chilean avocados are the Netherlands, followed by Argentina, and the United Kingdom (UK).

 

 

Avocado exports in September and October of 2020 have been lower than in the same period in 2019.

Chilean avocado exports peak between October and December along the bulk of the harvest season.

However, shipments will catch up in November and December, thus avocado exports volume will remain unchanged from the previous year at 145.000 MT

 

 

In August 2020, Australia obtained market access for Chilean avocados. Chile exported 250 MT of avocados to Australia between August and October of this year. In September 2020, Chilean avocados gained market access to South Korea. The first shipment to this destination was realized in November.

 

 

In CY2019, Chilean avocado exports increased by 9.1 percent in volume over CY2018 totaling 144.620 T and $301 million.
