No imports of fresh fruits and vegetables
FJ
Zimbabwe has banned imports of fresh fruits and vegetables.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced that the increase in local production would come to meet domestic demand. The prohibition mostly affects products from South Africa, the leading provider of the country, which exports tomatoes, potatoes, mangoes, grapes and apples, for an estimated $ 1 million per month.
Zimbabwe has experienced a mutation in its agricultural production which rose from staple crops (maize) to cash crops (tobacco), causing an increase in food imports and food crisis. Yet the country has serious advantages for a strong agricultural production, being considered as the regional attic.
