ITC monthly global trade show increase in vegetables exports, decline in fruit
Global exports fell by 0.1% in June 2024, as compared to June 2023 according to ITC Trade Map monthly analysis of the global trade. Export performance year-on-year was strongest in Africa, where exports grew 6.7%, and weakest in Europe, where exports fell 8.7%.
Vegetable products and minerals lead export growth
Minerals exports grew 5.2% and Vegetable product 5,1%, while Manufacturing exports fell 0.7%. Within the produce categories which behaved better are the pulses (dry vegetables) +3,5%, nuts +3,5% and fresh vegetables +1,4%. Fresh fruit -9,7% live plants and flowers -5,5% performed the worst. Overall agriculture commodities, fisheries, food exports fell 2.5%, compared to one year earlier. Within these industries, export performance year-on-year was strongest for Mineral primary products, with exports growing 5.2%, and weakest for Minerals, metals & products thereof, with exports falling 6.3%.
