Chile's fresh cherry exports this season would total 400,000 tons or 80 million boxes, setting a new record for shipments of said fruit globally, says the Asoex Cherries Committee.

It should be noted that last October the Committee projected a total of 89 million boxes for the campaign.

Until week 52, the country exported 372,169 tons of cherries. Of these, 331,149 tons were received by China, the main destination. The United States received 13,914 tons and Taiwan 5,600 tons.
