The average consumption of fruit and vegetables in Russia is 32 kg per person a year whereas 100 kg are recommended by the Ministry of Health. At the sight of these worrying figures, the country aims at launching a "five a day" program inspired by the USA, which would encourage people to eat five fruit and vegetables a day. Currently, the most eaten fruit are apples, bananas, oranges, grape and pears.
