SENASA considers the opening of the Dominican market a strategic step to broaden Peru’s blueberry export portfolio and strengthen regional trade links within Latin America.
Peru’s national agricultural authority, SENASA, has taken a key step toward opening the Dominican Republic market to Peruvian blueberries, according to local media.
A delegation from the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Agriculture recently visited Peru to audit export practices and phytosanitary controls in blueberry-growing regions. They inspected fields and packing facilities in Ica to verify adherence to agricultural best practices.
In the latest campaign, Peru exported over 270,000 tonnes of blueberries to markets including the U.S., Netherlands, China, and the U.K., solidifying its position as a top global exporter.
SENASA sees the Dominican market opening as a strategic opportunity to diversify export destinations for Peruvian blueberries and expand regional trade partnerships.
