Despite a delayed harvest, due to the rains that pushed back the bloom, the mango season in Ecuador promises to be about the same as last year.
Last year exports of mangoes totaled 13,491,824 boxes (4kg) or 53,967 tons. This year professionals estimate that volume will be similar or even slightly higher.
Harvests started in September and exports will be until January 2020. With the delay of flowering, the usual calendar is delayed from 2 to 3 weeks, the highest volumes will start from week 47 to week 49.
For the previous season, mango exports totaled 13,491,824 cans (4kg). The No. 1 destination was the USA with 12,319,698 boxes or 91.31% of the total exported. Second, Canada with 487,496 boxes, or 3.61% of the volume exported, followed by New Zealand, Europe, Chile and Mexico.
