Ten new agricultural product names registered

The European Commission has added ten names of agricultural products and foodstuffs to the Register of Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI).
Spain: Aceite de Terra Alta or Oli de Terra Alta (olive oil - PDO), Sierra de Cadiz (olive oil - PDO), Queso Ibores (cheese - PDO), Pera de Jumilla (pear - PDO), Pan de Cea (bread - PGI) and Mantecadas de Astorga (confectionary product - PGI).
Italy: Valdemone (olive oil - PDO), Zafferano dell'Aquila (spice - PDO) and Zafferano di San Gimignano (spice - PDO).
Portugal: Requeijao Serra da Estrela (cheese - PDO).
The ten names are added to the list of about 650 product names already protected under the legislation on the protection of geographical indications and designations of origin as well as on certificates of specific character for agricultural products and foodstuffs.
