Spain buys more vegetables from France and more fruit from Morocco

Spain increased its fruit and vegetable imports by 6% in 2024.
In 2024, Spain imported 4.3 million tons of fresh fruit and vegetables, 6% more than in 2023. 51% (2.2 million) came from countries outside the EU and 49% (2.1 million) from the EU, according to data from the Customs and Excise Department of the Tax Agency.
In volume, vegetable imports from the EU grew by 12%, while those from third countries increased by 2%. In fruit, the trend was similar.
In value, purchases of fruit and vegetables from third countries totaled 3,295 million euros (+12%), representing 66% of the total, while those from the EU were 1,706 million (+9%).
France led vegetable imports (1.1 million tons), while Morocco was the largest supplier of fruit (455,086 tons).
The total import value reached 5,001 million euros, with a growth of 11% compared to 2023.
