Vietnamese inspectors will visit Chile in April to verify kiwi export protocols.
Chile is working to secure fresh kiwi exports to Vietnam, with a Vietnamese delegation set to inspect orchards and packing facilities in April, according to Frutas de Chile.
Miguel Canala-Echeverría, general manager of Frutas de Chile, stated that Vietnam is Chile's seventh-largest market in Asia, receiving 1,982 tons of fresh fruit in the 2023-24 season. Efforts are also underway to ease cherry export conditions, currently restricted to sea shipments due to cold treatment requirements, with discussions ongoing for air transport approval.
Vietnamese inspectors will visit Chile in April to verify kiwi export protocols, and another inspection in late 2025 will assess Chile’s blueberry production. Chile is coordinating with public institutions and its agricultural attaché in Vietnam to facilitate fresh fruit trade.
Southeast Asia remains a key region for Chilean fruit exports, with Vietnam playing a crucial role due to its large and growing economy. With nearly 100 million people and a rising middle class, Vietnam presents a strong demand for imported products.
