Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service were congratulated by exporters on their information of various of important improvements to the requirements for the export of citrus to Japan at last week's Industry meeting. Several of these wins have been hard fought for by Australian Horticultural Exporter's Association for its members for some time. These include improvements to: temperature recording methodology for cold treatment, definition of length of treatments, labelling requirements, and use of Japanese Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries inspector supervision for each shipment. Committee Chairman David Minnis said these improvements were sensible and would make useful commercial improvements for the citrus trade to Australia's second biggest citrus export market.
