Hard times for leek harvesting in the center of France.

French leek growers have seen some very hard times and are preparing for a tough season. Three months ago, leek growers reported working for almost nothing as they were struggling to make but a few cents per kilo (the price fell as low as 30 cents a kilo). But bad things have turned to worst as the past few days' snow and freezing temperatures have hardened the grounds and covered the fields, making it impossible for growers to get what is expected out of their fields. This in turn has sky-rocketed the prices to 1€40 a kilo à few days ago.
