The first apples from New Zealand arrive in Australia after a 92 year ban.
The sale of New Zealand apples has begun in Sydney after the lifting of a ban which dates back 92 years.
Established in 1919, this ban was imposed by Australia due to a bacterial disease. After much negotiation and with the arbitration of the World Trade Organization, New Zealand apples are now allowed to enter Australia.
However, Australian producers are demanding more in-depth inspections, stricter controls on production and the quarantine of products.
