Nearly 30% of grape harvest failed in Stavropol Krai

According to the preliminary data, in 2008, Stavropol Krai has lost nearly 30% of grape harvest due to low air temperatures in winter and thick squalls in spring, the state organization “Stavropolvinogradprom” reported to Interfax-Yug.
“At the beginning of this year, grape-growers faced unfavorable weather conditions. In winter- temperature pulldown, in some regions to -32C°. And thick squalls took place in spring. This considerably affected gross output and yield”,- reported the representative of “Stavropolvinogradprom”. According to him, the viticulture organizations has conducted large work on restoring of damaged plantings.
