Morocco consolidates its positions in the citrus sector

The citrus sector is dynamic in Morocco, which is ranked 15th worldwide producer of oranges and 4th producer country of clementines and mandarins.
Morocco was ranked in 2018 and 2019, 15th in the world of orange-producing countries. The country improves this ranking with regard to exports. Morocco ranks 13th among the main orange exporting countries, according to data from the United Nations Statistical Agency (COMTRADE).
The main destinations for Moroccan oranges are the European Union including Spain, France and the United Kingdom but also, outside the EU, Russia, the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and the United States.
Regarding the production of tangerines, satsumas, clementines and mandarins, Morocco was in 2019 in 4th position in the world ranking of the main producing countries. China remains at the top of the ranking and is way ahead of Spain, Turkey and Morocco. After Morocco, follow Egypt, Brazil, the United States, Japan and Italy.
