Peru’s regions boost fruit and vegetable exports by over 26% in early 2025

Peru’s regional fruit and veg exports surged, driven by strong shipments of avocados, mangoes, grapes and blueberries to key markets like the U.S. and Europe.
From January to May 2025, Peru’s regions (excluding Lima and Callao) exported USD 3.25 billion worth of agricultural products, reflecting a 26.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to ADEX.
These exports reached 101 international markets, with the United States as the top destination, buying USD 1.21 billion, up 37.1% from the previous year. Other leading markets included the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, Chile, the UK, Canada, Ecuador, Germany, and Colombia.
Ica led the regional rankings with USD 1.23 billion in exports (+37.8%), driven by grapes, avocados, and other fresh fruits, with strong demand from the U.S., the Netherlands, and Spain. La Libertad followed with USD 543 million (+1.4%), mainly shipping blueberries, avocados, asparagus, and mangoes to top buyers like the U.S., Spain, and the UK.
Piura ranked third with USD 419 million (+37.3%), thanks to mangoes (fresh and preserved), bananas, avocados, grapes, and limes, mostly sent to the U.S., Netherlands, and Ecuador. Lambayeque recorded USD 324 million (+57.2%), with strong exports of avocados, blueberries, mangoes, and passion fruit juice, mainly to the U.S., Canada, and South Korea.
Áncash reached USD 886 million, growing 7.3% with shipments of mangoes, avocados, blueberries, canned mangoes, and asparagus.
Regions with the highest growth rates included Amazonas (+154%), Huánuco (+129%), Madre de Dios (+85%), San Martín, Ayacucho, and Lambayeque.
