In France, despite the increase (+10%) in surface areas, lettuce harvests are estimated to be down over the entire 2022-23 campaign.
According to the Agreste Conjoncture report, on 1 January 2023 lettuce areas were estimated at 7,243 hectares, i.e. +10% compared to the previous campaign. This total is divided into 4,077 hectares for summer production and 3,166 hectares for winter production.
Despite this increase in surface area, lettuce harvests (summer + winter) are estimated at -3% compared to the previous season.
Over the entire 2022-23 campaign, which runs from May 2022 to April 2023, production would total 390,754,000 heads with 192,355 heads for summer 2022 production and 198,399 heads for winter production.
