A strong growth in demand for greenhouse tomatoes is due to the rise in prices of these products in Ukraine over the last year, in opinion of fresh market experts in Kiev. Despite mild winter, greenhouse vegetable prices are considerably higher in 2007 than one year ago while it does not consider that rising production costs have had an effect on prices. Greenhouse vegetables are approximately 25-30% more expensive than they were at the beginning of April 2006. The price of greenhouse tomatoes dramatically rose: this product costs 35-50% more than in previous year. Greenhouse pepper prices are higher 20% and greenhouse cucumbers are 5-7% more expensive than in April 2005.
