Canada opens its market to Polish apples
FJ
Poland was granted access to the Canadian market for its apples.
According to the Polish Embassy in Ottawa , negotiations for 2 years resulted in the approval for the import of Polish apples . Great news for the producers of Poland who must manage the loss of their big export market ( Russia ) and deal with a huge crop of apples this year.
Poland will be a new player in the Canadian market. Canada produces apples but imports large quantities and in particular from the US state of Washington.
Canada is also the No. 2 market for exports from the state of Washington. US producers do not feel threatened by this new competitor saying that Polish apples do not have the same quality.
