On March 19, a container of Moldovan apples has been shipped to India under new market rules.
In New Delhi, Moldova’s Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New Delhi to explore new areas of cooperation between the two countries, according to Moldovan media.
During the meeting, the two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on agriculture, which will allow farmers from Moldova and India to share knowledge, technology, and best practices. The agreement also aims to introduce modern farming solutions, increase food production, and improve access to new markets. It is expected to bring long-term benefits to farmers and businesses in both countries.
A key topic was India’s recent decision — effective February 21 — to allow free access for Moldovan apples into the Indian market, the world’s largest with 1.4 billion people. Minister Popșoi thanked the Indian government for its support, saying the move opens major opportunities for Moldovan farmers. On March 19, a container of Moldovan apples has been shipped to India under these new market rules.
