Prices for onions soar in Ukraine

According to the latest data, prices for onions have rallied up to 25% within last week in Ukraine. Due to poor demand and low prices local farmers waited with onions harvesting till last week. Last week low temperatures triggered mass start of onions cropping, but most of the products appeared to be already frozen till that time. As follows from local specialists statement, farmers who succeeded to harvest and to move vegetables to the warehouses before frosts, used the opportunity to raise prices for onions. At the current moment Ukrainian farmers are ready to supply onions at 0,09 – 0,12 EUROkg, price depends on vegetables quality and purchase volume.
