Midagri launches joint export scheme to strengthen mango exports from Piura

A new joint export scheme is set to help organised mango producers access international markets through experienced export operators, while retaining their legal independence and export benefits.
A new joint export scheme is being launched in Piura by Peru’s agriculture ministry, working through its export promotion arm and alongside the Regional Government of Piura, to help organised mango producers access international markets through experienced operators while retaining their legal independence and export benefits.
Under the scheme, producers will be able to export part of their harvest through an established export operator, using its technical, logistical, and operational expertise to access international markets.
A key feature of the model is that small, organised growers can maintain their legal independence without creating a new legal entity. This allows them to recover VAT and access Peru’s export drawback system, while also securing better commercial conditions through collective supply management, quality control, and joint negotiation.
The mechanism will be formally presented on Wednesday, 10 December, at the San Lorenzo Agrarian Agency during a session of the Mango Technical Board, where operational requirements and the process for onboarding new organisations will be explained.
Preliminary meetings have already taken place in San Lorenzo to introduce the strategy to local producers. Both Midagri and the Piura regional government view the programme as a key tool to strengthen the commercial capacity of small growers and reinforce their position in international markets.
