Chile appoints new regional agriculture officials

The new regional officials are expected to support irrigation expansion, plant and animal health measures, and rural development programmes across Chile.
Chile’s Ministry of Agriculture has announced new Secretaries of Agriculture (Seremis) in 14 of the country’s 16 regions, aiming to reinforce regional management of agricultural policies, irrigation development and rural programmes.
According to the ministry, the appointments are intended to strengthen the government’s presence at regional level and improve coordination with local producers and rural communities. Authorities said the selected officials bring experience in territorial management and sector development, which is expected to support policy implementation across the forestry, livestock and crop sectors.
The ministry also indicated that the remaining appointments will be confirmed once the administrative process is completed in the coming days.

Tarapacá — Fernando Chiffelle Ruff
Atacama — Gilberto Prokuriza Naim
Coquimbo — Vicente Cortés Varela
Valparaíso — Nicolás Prado García-Huidobro
Metropolitan Region — Fernando Rencoret Gómez
O’Higgins — Carlos Valdés Errázuriz
Maule — Alejandro Muñoz Ávalos
Ñuble — Juan Luis Enriquez Fuentes
Biobío — Francisco Lagos Arriagada
Araucanía — María Teresa Fernández Cabrera
Los Ríos — Rodrigo Bahamonde Flores
Los Lagos — Francisco Cárcamo Hernández
Aysén — Yordy Cea España
