The Ukrainian agriculture analysts carried out the survey of the prospects of fruit and vegetable production and prices in 2007 in Ukraine. According to this survey, the total production of fruit, vegetables and potato may augment by 6% in 2007.
The general production growth depends on, first of all, the increased cultivation areas for potato and the expected increment of the average fruit yield. According to the initial assessment, at the same time the acreage and the yield of vegetable crops (discounting potato) will decrease 3-5% and 1-3% respectively. Experts say that the interesting trend to remark is the extension of the berry farming areas and the expected growth of berry production. Strawberry is becoming the leader among the other field berries as for its growth rates - the cultivation areas of this crop are extended practically in the whole country.
