European culture in honor
FJ
Spain and the UK, their homelands, but also in Europe and around the world, April 23 is the death anniversary of two giants of European culture.
Spain will celebrate its most famous writer Miguel de Cervantes and the UK his playwright and poet William Shakespeare.
The events announced in the UK are numerous and will even last for a few months. In Spain, the celebrations will be less and will not have the luster that the figures from the world of Spanish culture were waiting. All other Spanish-speaking countries will also celebrate the father of "the Ingenious Hidalgo."
It is believed that Cervantes and Shakespeare have died the same day (23 April 1616). But this date is the day of the funeral of the author of "Don Quixote". England, which have not adopted the new calendar, already used by the countries of Catholicism in Western Europe, the death of the "Hamlet" author had taken place on May 3, 1616.
