LIVE from Fruit Attraction: Smurfit Kappa showcases sustainable and cost saving packaging solutions
Smurfit Kappa is one of the leading suppliers of corrugated cardboard packaging, operating in 23 European countries and 13 countries in America.
This week at Fruit Attraction, Smurfit Kappa showed and explained what corrugated cardboard packaging is, and how producers can save with sustainable packaging.
Goliath® is a tray which has a conical design that enables it to absorb the deformation caused by the fruit, thus reducing the weight by 50% compared to other types of packaging, optimizing the preservation of the fruit.
“The strong point that differentiates us in the agricultural market is innovation. Our solutions reduce costs for our customers, they are easily applicable, so that when implementing them it does not require much change in the plant organization. With our Goliath box, which was developed for watermelons and is now used for citrus fruits as well, we want our customers to take advantage of this structure to be more competitive. ”, says Enrique Guillén, Regional Manager at Smurfit Kappa.
P84 / 13 Double Conical box was designed to allow a 360º circulation of the air towards the interior and to ensure that the product arrives in its best condition at the point of sale. Above all, it is more resistant, emits less CO2, generates less waste and takes up less space.
According to Guillén, the Double Conical box is a more efficient structure with which it is easier to aerate, and refrigerate the product, as well as to lower its temperature.
