Exports of fruits and vegetables always trending up

Increase in volume and value for Spanish exports of fruits and vegetables.
FEPEX announces that exports of fresh fruits and vegetables increased by 6% in volume and by 14% in value for the period January-September 2013 compared to the same period of 2012. Totaling 8.3 million tons of fruits and vegetables and € 7.6 million.
Vegetable exports increased by 10% in volume and by 16% in value (3.2 million tons and € 3.1 million). At the head of exports: tomatoes 731,795 tons (+12%), salads 471,472 (+3%), peppers 378,606 tons (+9%) and cucumbers 296,781 tons (+10%).
Fruit exports increased by 4% in volume and by 13% in value (5 million tons and € 4.5 million). Watermelons 519,828 tons (+7%), nectarines 376,984 tons (+15%), peaches 315,088 tons (+20%) and strawberries (- 6%)263, 613 tons.
The European Union is the main destination of Spanish exports with 92% of the shipped total. Germany is the No. 1 customer with 24% of total exports, followed by France with 19% and the United Kingdom Kingdom with 13%.
