Russia’s Embargo Profits to Turkey

Russia has put an embargo to exportations from European countries in response to their Russian import limitations.

After putting an embargo to fresh fruit and vegetable exportations from Europe, Russia narrowed its exportations sources. Russia is already an important importer of Turkish products. By this event, Turkish exporters expect an increase on exportations to Russia of  about 20-40 %.

Business world states that, apart from fresh fruit and vegetable exportations, meat, milk, agriculture and legume products, alcoholic drinks exportations will increase but that there is a risk that domestic price of these items increases too.

On the other hand, the President of West Mediterranean Exporters Association (BAIB) affirms that worries about domestic prices are unnecessary. He also adds that current Russia fresh fruit and vegetable exportations, of 1.1 million ton now, can double if a decent plan is prepared for future exportations. However, he warns the sellers should not expect too much increase in domestic sector.
