Clementines from Corsica
France
Friday 03 December 2004
A good year for Corsican clementines, which have been in stores since 8th November.
Good weather has meant an excellent quality this year and a crop well over 20,000 tonnes.
Citrus growing has been developing since the 60's on the island, the only region in France that grows clementines with 1250 hectares and 131 growers.
Clementines from Corsica already have product conformity certification. In 2005 it will be granted PGI and in 2006 will aim to obtain the French Red Label quality standard for around 10 percent of the crop.
