Chile is China's No. 1 supplier for fresh fruit

Based on data published by Chinese Customs, imports of fruit in mainland China totaled USD 4.88 billion in 2016 and a volume of 3.79 million tonnes.
In 2016, Chile became the leading supplier of fresh fruit. Its exports to China increased by 22% totaling 1.18 billion USD. Since 2012 Chilean exports of fresh fruit have more than doubled, pointing out that the determining factor for demand is not the transport distance between the two countries.
In the other countries of South America, Peru's exports fell by 18.3% to US $ 175 million and Ecuador's exports fell by 42.8%. On the other hand, the Oceania countries recorded higher results, New Zealand exports increased by 20% to 329.6 million USD and those of Australia by 67.3% to 191, 5 million USD. For the other countries, US exports grew by 10.5% to USD $ 331.1 million and South Africa by 11.1% to USD $ 156 million.
Spain ($ 18.3 million or 360.8%), Israel ($ 4.2 million or + 923.5%) and Argentina ($ 4.1 million + 1 043.7%).
