El Corte Inglés has decided to lower its prices by 20% of thousands of references for food including fruit and vegetables.
Reduced margins to increase sales is a new strategy against its two main competitors, Carrefour and Mercadona.
The Spanish group El Corte Ingles decided to drop the price of 5,000 references by 20% and will review its prices of fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, every week for comparison with
those of its competitors. El Corte Ingles will then adjust its prices to make them competitive.
El Corte Ingles will implement this new strategy in its 57 hypermarkets and 200 other formats: Supermercados El Corte Inglés, and Supercor Supercor Express.
