The market for frozen fruit and nuts in the EU rose steadily to $2.4 billion in 2018. The largest consumers are Germany (369,000 tonnes), France (184,000 tonnes) and Italy (149,000 tonnes).
A new IndexBox report has analyzed the market for frozen fruit and nuts in the European Union. Revenue amounted to $2.4 billion in 2018, up 1.5% from the previous year.
The countries with the largest consumption of frozen fruit and nuts were Germany (369,000 tonnes and $632,000), France (184,000 tonnes and $389,000) and Italy (149,000 tonnes and $272,000) . In value, the consumption of these 3 countries represents 54% of the total market.
In 2018, around 951,000 tonnes (-5.9% compared to the previous year) of frozen fruit and nuts were produced in the European Union. Poland is the largest producing country with 351,000 tonnes, followed by Spain with 127,000 tonnes and Italy with 122,000 tonnes.
EU exports amounted to 885,000 tonnes of frozen fruit and nuts, up by 2.6% from the previous year. Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium are the top 3 exporting countries.
The EU imported in 2018 around 1.4 million tonnes of frozen fruit and nuts, +2.5% compared to the previous year.
The report estimates that this European market should continue its upward trend over the next few years.
