In New Zealand, the first shipment of the 2023 season left the port of Tauranga to reach Japan. On board around 2,500 tonnes (more than 600,000 trays) of Zespri SunGold kiwifruit
Zespri announces that this ship should reach Tokyo at the beginning of April before sailing to Kobe. This vessel is the 1st of 53 charter vessels that Zespri will use this season to deliver approximately 145 million trays of Green Kiwifruit, SunGold Kiwifruit and RubyRed Kiwifruit to more than 50 countries.
The chartered vessels will be responsible for delivering around 72 million trays of New Zealand fruit this season to Zespri's global consumers. The charter program will include 3 services to Northern Europe, 7 to the Mediterranean, 2 to the West Coast of North America and 41 to Asia, with an additional 73 million trays to be shipped in containers.
